MT2

MT-2 (Melanotan II) is a synthetic peptide analog of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), widely studied for its effects on melanogenesis, pigmentation pathways, and melanocortin receptor activity[1][6]. Research has also explored its interaction with MC1R, MC3R, and MC4R receptors, which are involved in skin pigmentation, appetite regulation, and neuroendocrine signaling[2][4].

MT-2 has been primarily investigated in controlled research settings for its ability to stimulate melanin production independently of UV exposure, making it a focus of studies related to pigmentation biology, photoprotection mechanisms, and melanocyte activation[3][5].

Administration (research setting):
Typically studied via subcutaneous injection, following titration-based protocols to assess individual response and receptor sensitivity.

Reconstitution:
Add 2.0 mL bacteriostatic water → 5 mg/mL concentration (≈5000 mcg/mL).

Typical research ranges:

  • Initial titration studies: 100–250 mcg per administration

  • Common research range: 250–1000 mcg, depending on study design and objectives[2][3]

Measurement guide:
At 5 mg/mL, 1 unit on a U-100 insulin syringe (0.01 mL) ≈ 50 mcg, allowing precise micro-dosing and gradual protocol adjustments.

Storage:
Lyophilized vial: store frozen at −20 °C (−4 °F).
After reconstitution: refrigerate at 2–8 °C (35.6–46.4 °F).
Protect from light and avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles to maintain peptide stability.
